As an integrative therapist/counsellor, I ‘integrate’ aspects of different forms of therapy. I include aspects from psychodynamic, gestalt, self psychology and object relations theories, which means we will discuss your past and how this has shaped the person you are today, while also focusing on the problems you are currently experiencing in the here and now. Working in this way enables us to look at how you have learned to be who you are now, and how it is affecting your life. The relationship between therapist and client is very important. Once a trusting secure relationship is achieved, it can be used as a way of exploring issues affecting you in order to find more fulfilling ways of being in the world. Through this relationship, you will be able to have different experiences of relating and being, in order to grow and make positive changes. ![]() I hold a Post Graduate Certificate and Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy and am currently in advanced clinical training for an MA Integrative Psychotherapy with the University of Birmingham and Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute (SPTI), Nottingham. I am a Registered Nurse (Adult) with an Advanced Diploma in Nursing Studies. In furthering my studies as a nurse I have completed a degree level module in Substance Misuse and have more than 10 years experience of working with people with varying life issues including issues with drug and alcohol dependency, supporting them to make to make life-enhancing changes. I adhere to the SPTI Code of Ethics and Professional Practice as informed by UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psycotherapy)- copies of which are available on request. I am also a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and as such, adhere to the BACP code of Ethics. I am committed to my own continuing development and have regular supervision of my client work by an experienced UKCP registered supervisor. | |
